Practicing the Power of Now Essential Teachings Meditations and Exercises from The Power of Now

This manual-style book instantly dives into Eckhart Tolle’s principles of “living in the moment,” which could be a jarring experience for readers who haven’t read his preceding book, The Power of Now. For the initiated, though, this makes an excellent companion guide–rich in exercises and meditations to help readers get out of their minds so they can live more peacefully in their bodies. Sometimes it’s hard to fathom what on earth Tolle is talking about: “To regain awareness of Being and to abide in that state of ‘feeling-realization’ is enlightenment.” Be patient. All concepts will be revealed (or at least more carefully explained). Ultimately, Tolle leads readers into a new form of thinking (or actually not thinking) that erases the consuming habits of waiting, worrying, and being in fear. The first step is ending the “delusion of time.” He asks, “Are you always trying to get somewhere other than where you are? … Is most of your doing just a means to an end?” If so, Tolle has a book full of advice for you. As simplistic as this may sound, Tolle’s work has spiritual merit and depth, especially for frantic Westerners who find their lives diminished by packed schedules and busy-ness. –Gail Hudson

5 Stars Love this book
I try to read a few pages every morning. I have the “Power of Now” which is wonderful, but this is the one I refer to more often. You can open it to any section, read a few pages, and benefit from the reading. I even stick it in my purse if I’m going to a doctor’s office and may have a few minutes of waiting.

5 Stars Practicing the Power of Now
This is one of my favorite of Tolle’s works. I have purchased several as gifts for my friends. Great core spiritual information.

5 Stars The way to peace
The product was shipped quickly at a very discounted price. The CD itself is any essential to one who is practicing the enlightenment of living in the now.

5 Stars Practicing the Power of Now
A must for anyone who has read The Power of Now. It is a handy, bag sized book that you can take anywhere with you and read at any time. It cuts to the chase; all the important, helpful words and advice are with you whenever and wherever you need a reminder of your POWER.

5 Stars Amazing Book
Practicing the Power of Now: Essential Teachings, Meditations, and Exercises from The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle is a book that teaches you how to “live in the moment.” There are many meditations and exercises to practice so readers can live peacefully in their “bodies.” You will eventually regain the awareness of “Being.” It’s a new form of thinking and it takes a little time to understand.

If you are still searching for Spiritual Enlightenment in a seemingly hopeless world, May I suggest you read My book as well. (See Above)

Mens Health Power Training Build Bigger Stronger Muscles with through Performance based Conditioning

Mens Health Power Training Build Bigger Stronger Muscles with through Performance based Conditioning

One of the nation’s elite strength and conditioning coaches presents a unique training program designed to help men achieve functional strength and muscular balance throughout their bodies

For decades, the conventional measure of an individual’s strength was the amount of weight he could bench press. Now, that measure is being challenged by expert trainers like Robert dos Remedios who argue that the variety of movement patterns used in functional training is the real key to getting bigger, stronger, and more powerful. In Men’s Health Book of Strength, this acclaimed collegiate strength and conditioning coach describes in detail the methods he has used to develop hundreds of Division I scholarship athletes, including several current NFL players.

The key features that make this book a standout in the fitness field include:

• exercises geared toward functional strength that can be utilized in real-world situations, from playing sports to lifting furniture

• training sessions that are short, intense, and highly effective

• compound, multijoint exercises that replace the less-effective isolation exercises found in many fitness books

• no-nonsense dietary information utilizing a new and innovative food pyramid developed by the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition that will optimize strength gains, recovery, and physical progress

5 Stars One of the best workout books I have purchased
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R35TX83U7Z5KPJ Men’s Health Power Training: Build Bigger, Stronger Muscles with through Performance-based Conditioning

5 Stars This book is the real deal
Do you consider yourself an advanced weightlifter? Do you actually focus on performing exercises with the proper form rather than with huge amounts of weight? Do you workout muscles that aren’t glamorous (i.e. hamstrings). Are you in great shape and wondering what your next step is? If so then this book is for you. These routines will HUMBLE you. I don’t care what weight you can put up, these routines will challenge you. You will work muscles you didn’t know you had. Most importantly these routines are going to give you the core strength to put up some serious weight. If you have been lifting for a while and have hit a plateau BUY THIS BOOK.

If you have never set foot in a gym this book is not for you (despite its claims that it is). Beginners should check out Men’s Health Big Book of Muscle. It has beginner, intermediate, and advanced programs. I’ve been through all three with excellent results, now its time for me to move on.

5 Stars Great Book
I have never done any Strengh and Conditioning training before and I found this book very helpful. I have learned how to do the exercises and enjoy the routine. I would suggest this book definately.

4 Stars Very User Friendly
As a mother of three and over 40, I found just what I was looking for in a weight training book. I have done kettlebells and free weights for several years but do not consider myself “advanced” and this book was very user friendly. The author does suggest one get some instruction for the more difficult lifts….but I don’t see where one would need to be “advanced” to benefit from this book. It is a ‘no fluff’ book on some great weight training methods. I have looked at several books and feel this comes closest to what I was looking to find. Being a kettlebell enthusiast, I totally agree with the lifting complexes for strength–not isolation for “mirror muscles”:-)

5 Stars Perfect Advice, but the delivery is questionable
First of all let me say that I have been following this book for six weeks. I love it. Great exercises, easy-to-follow pictures, and totally worth the buy if you have been training for a while.

Again, before I get into the negatives, I’ll say that you should get this book if you are serious about lifting/training/looking better. You will see amazing results if you follow this plan.

Cons:

- Book is huge. This is no paperback. It is a monster book that will not fit into your gym bag. So if you have questions about a certain complex lift. Too bad, should have studied at home.

- Poor organization. Topics are of all over the place. When planning your workouts you have to constantly flip through the book to look for the ‘Bilateral Knee Dominate Exercises’ or whatever you need for a certain ‘menu item’. This could have easily been solved with page numbers after the workouts in the second chapter.

- Lack of warning. If you are a beginner DO NOT get this book. It is not written for beginners. You will hurt yourself. Any lift that requires a barbell can easily hurt you unless you have proper coaching. To be fair Doc does say this, but it is in the last sentence of a chapter. It took me three reads (ok…skims) to catch that.

- Lack of Warning 2. If you are an armature (like me) who has been lifting for a year or so, keep in mind that it is easy to hurt yourself. These workouts are intense (which is a very good thing) but you need to be able to listen to your body and stop when you get a bad feeling or something starts to hurt.

I want to state again that I love this book. You are buying a great way to build workouts. And all of these problems are minor since this book delivers what it claims. You will see results! Good luck!

2 Stars Do your homework
I didn’t like the book.If you are willing to get a lot of medical tests including a complete head-to-toe ultrasound and if needed take biochemical hormones, antidepressants, anxiety and pain medications, do not worry about the side effects of medications, getting re-tested by your doctor then you’re following the author’s recommendations. I do hope you have a good insurance plan or the means to pay. I’ll be fair. He does write about taking supplements, eating a healthy diet, having good sleep habits, and reducing stress but most of us know that without reading the book. Do your own homework.

5 Stars younger you
I had checked this book out from the library and wanted to have it as a reference. The book was is good condition and I am happy to have it delilvered so fast. THank you very much.

4 Stars Enjoyed Younger You!
I enjoyed the book, but wish it gave exact presciption amts for quitting smoking. I shared it with my sister and she is enjoying it too. Great book to pinpoint which area of health you need to focus on NOW. I will reread it again soon to keep making progress. Great book to get you started.

4 Stars A MUST-READ FOR BABY-BOOMERS
Baby Boomers are quickly losing memory and health. This book directs you on how to identify areas of “aging” and what to do to take control of your health in that area.

Many of us are concerned about our health, and all the horrible alternatives we have under the influence of the mega-laboratories. This book gives us hope.

5 Stars Great Insight
This book offers great insight into how your brain really is in control of the rest of your body. If your brain is sick or lacking then the rest of your body will be sick too. I look forward to the Younger You Diet book coming out this Christmas.

The Egoscue Method of Health Through Motion Revolutionary Program That Lets You Rediscover the Bodys Power to Rejuvenate It

The Egoscue Method of Health Through Motion Revolutionary Program That Lets You Rediscover the Bodys Power to Rejuvenate It

Modern humans move far less than our forebears did, which Egoscue claims causes muscular weakness that can affect bodily alignment. When muscle weakness causes one side of the body to bear less than its share of the weight, the resulting distortion may cause dysfunction and pain in many areas. Egoscue, who runs clinics in California and Florida, shows three common “conditions” of misalignment and offers simple exercises designed to counteract the condition by strengthening the relevant muscles. He also discusses the most popular types of aerobic exercises and how they may affect each condition. A good purchase for public libraries.

4 Stars good with some flaws
This is a good book with some flaws. The exercises are great. However, once you determine which type of exercises you need and go to the list, there are no page numbers (only names of the exercises) which would have allowed you to easily refer back to the page that the particular exercise description is on. This makes it extremely frustrating to have to flip back and forth to find the needed exercise. I ended up putting lots of post it notes in the book with page numbers sticking out. This could have very easily been avoided with the addition of page numbers on the exercise list. Also, several exercises do not have illustrations making it difficult (unless you are a trainer or physical therapist) to know if you are really doing it correctly. ALL of the exercises should have had illustrations.

4 Stars HOW TO HELP YOURSELF TO RELEIVE PAIN
I WAS TOLD ABOUT THE BOOK BECAUSE I WAS HAVING BACK AND LEG PROBLEMS. YHE EXERSIZES IN THE BOOK ARE VERY HELPFUL AND THEY HAVE RELEIVED MOST OF MY PAIN. I THINK THAT THE METHODS THAT ARE USED ARE LESS STRESSFUL THAN MANY OTHERS. AL KAUFMAN

5 Stars The Egoscue Method of Health Through Motion
This was a very informative book which has helped me with chronic back pain that became much more acute this past year. This book has helped me tremendously. I would definitely recommend it to others. The most recent copy that I purchased was for a freind suffering from back problems.

5 Stars necessity
I recognized the truth in this book immediately. I didn’t find it too complicated. It explains the approach very well and it gives you diagnostic tools. Egoscue made the subject simple enough to handle. This book will help you to define the cause of the problem and fix it if you are prepared to take responsibility for your pain-free functional life. Move or die is the message you need to embrace. However, the movement should feel pleasurable, joyful and it will, once you align your body with the help of the exercises described in this book.

Don’t wait, get it now! You won’t regret it.

5 Stars wonderful program
a friend recommended this book to me. i feel the author identified my body type and i am doing the exercises religiously. i do believe my back issues and hip concerns will be resolved using his program! great! i am 56 years old and have issues for 30 years….wish i had found him sooner!

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars One of the best organized and most inovative books on Yoga I’ve read to date!
I’ve been following Paul Grilley’s Yin Yoga work for some time now and recently picked up a copy of Ms. Powers - Insight Yoga. It’s very easy follow her explanation of the Chi Meridian Channels in conjunction with her yoga stretching series.

I agree with Mr. Grilley’s assessment of her being the Beatles like innovator of her presentation of Yin and Yang Yoga.

This is a must read for serious yoga practitioners!

All the Best,

5 Stars Insight Yoga by Sarah Powers
An excellent book for someone who wants to go deeper into his/her yoga practices. Sarah has the unique ability to express complex ideas into simple, enriching language.

5 Stars Finally, Sarah Powers’ Book - we’ve been waiting!
As a follower of Sarah Powers, with her quiet style encouraging one to explore stillness and the wonderful practice of Yin Yoga and mindfulness meditation, it is wonderful to have her book by my bedside. It is my new constant companion. Intestingly, the day I received my book, shorly after publication, I took a Meditation workshop in which the instructor read passages from the book to the class. The next week I experienced a Yin Yoga class, and coincidently, some of Sarah’s postures were introducted to us. This is how keenly awaited the book has been. It does not disappoint. Sarah’s compassion to all beings and love of the practice shows on every page. Practical and philosophical…this book has it all!

5 Stars A Lifetime of Life Enhancing Practice
I highly recommend this book. At first blush, the idea of a synthesis of Hatha Yoga, Chinese meridian theory and Buddhist meditation may seem to be too vast and diverse a subject for one book alone, but Sarah Powers has skillfully succeeded in delivering a clear concise manuscript. Without oversimplifying the subject matter she has constructed a cohesive whole using these three different approaches that seamlessly fit together to explore our human condition on a spiritual path. I imagine the practices she has shared and the methods for integrating them into our lives are thorough enough to carry a practitioner through a lifetime of practice. I know I will be returning to this book and to it’s practices again and again, as I allow myself to steep in their power.
